I thought this was another interesting approach at the word "diversity" and focusing on body diversity (not just diversity of races and ethnicities) which I believe is just as pressing an issue as racial diversity. Author Tiffany Onyejiaka explores the lack of body diversity on teen shows and explains the negative impacts that has on our teenage society. Teenagers are very vulnerable and look up to their favorite actors and actresses on their favorite shows. This trickles down to teenagers wanting to look like their favorite actors, which, a lot of the time, can cause harm because, as mentioned in this article, most of these actors and actresses are extremely thin individuals which is not healthy. All body types should be celebrated and called beautiful, not just these portrayed in teen television shows.
